The King of Nogaria is a short satirical film commenting on contemporary politics through a deconstruction of national identity and place. Images taken from an extensive Super8 film archive shot around the globe are collaged together into an absurd story about a king of a non-existent country. By means of two voice overs, one spoken by a young Australian woman and the other by a young English man, the audience is taken on an imaginary journey to Nogaria. The country has characteristics that seem both historical and contemporary but always recognizable in their absurdity. |
